As the sun set on Halloween night, the Bogalusa Community Arena on the northern outskirts of the city transformed into a vibrant festival ground, buzzing with excitement for the annual fall festival. Held on October 31, 2024, the arena was the perfect backdrop for a night filled with spooktacular fun, drawing families and friends from all over the area.
The dusty grounds of the arena were adorned with decorated trunks of participants, yard games, plenty of candy, and equestrian friends!
At six o'clock, the Boo Bash kicked off with lively rounds of barrel races as a local entertainer hosted a rodeo. Laughter and cheers filled the space as families waved from the sidelines, some dressed in festive attire, embracing the Halloween spirit. It was then the spectators' turns to get dirty, as it was open participation for the calf scramble event— a game in which young participants attempted to pull the ribbon from the calf it was tied to.
The rodeo arena, usually a hub for bull riding and barrel racing, now became a stage for entertainment. The mix of traditional rodeo events and fall fest happenings made for a truly magical night for attendees.
The Boo Bash at the rural rodeo arena was more than just a festival; it was a celebration of community, creativity, and the magic of Autumn. "It was a great night of fun and festivities," stated Errol Varnado, Jr.— Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Bogalusa. "We gave out over 10,000 pieces of candy, and everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves. We can't wait to host again next year."
